I began my teaching career in 2003 at Warren Woods Public Schools. While teaching in Warren Woods for eleven years, I had the opportunity to teach students Music Kindergarten through 12th grade. I also had the opportunity to teach high school Biology and Health. Early in my career, my evenings were focused on being a vocal coach for our high school musicals including Cinderella and Jane Eyre.
This is my 17th year of teaching and 6th year here at Richmond Community Schools directing the choirs, teaching Guitar and Biology classes! I am very excited to be a part of this fine musical community!
Outside of the Classroom:
In addition to my teaching duties, I am involved in two professional education associations: the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA).
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling. I have been very blessed to travel around the world for both educational and non-educational reasons. In 1999, I traveled to Australia to study Rainforest and Reef Ecology. In 2004, I traveled to Italy and Switzerland to sing/study/perform Opera and speak the Italian Language. I've also hiked 200 miles across Spain with a friend and a backpack, and repelled 250 foot waterfalls in Costa Rica.
I also spend my free time renovating our 1850's farm house with my husband. When we are not restoring the house, I am running, biking, bowling, or playing volleyball.
